I have uploaded a number of photos to the media library for use in featured articles as they are a set width and height. However, the images can only be used once even if the previous post has been deleted. The image will be attached to a post whether or not the post has been deleted. If I try and use one of these photos again, it will produce an error in the DCG viewer. (The error message in the source code says that the image does not exist).

I don't know how I can unattach a media item without completing deleting it from the system and I also don't know if one image can be used for a number of featured posts. I am using the one category method and everything works fine apart from the attached image problem.

Any help please as this is frustrating. thanks.

You can only attach an image to one post. Image attachments are actually treated like they are children of a post, and an image attachment can only have one parent.

I would use the Full Image Management option and enter the image URL directly into the DCG metabox. A future version will use Featured Images, but it's not ready for release yet.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the attachment thing is a bit annoying. Another Wordpress user has requested an "unattach" option in the media library for an image once it's parent page/post has been deleted.

Anyway, I will have to work around it. Great plugin!!!
