As I put the finishing touches to the new version, I would love to get some feedback on one particular question:

Which page is most commonly used for displaying the DCG? The homepage? A page template? Something else?

One of the issues with the current version is that the javascripts which drive the gallery are loaded into every page header – not just the page that the gallery is displayed in. Clearly, this is a waste of bandwidth. Therefore, I want to offer some user options so that users can limit the script loading to the relevant page.

Please leave your feedback/answers in this thread. Thanks! :-)

Worked great no errors for about 2 hours and then I get the following error and site crash:

Warning: include_once(/hermes/web03/b610/moo.chrisray12/wp-content/plugins/dynamic-content-gallery-plugin/includes/dfcg-admin-functions.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hermes/web03/b610/moo.chrisray12/wp-content/plugins/dynamic-content-gallery-plugin/dynamic-gallery-plugin.php on line 124

I disabled the plugin and site went back to perfect. Confused

I really liked the usability of V3. Thesis users will enjoy this. Let me know if you have a fix for the problem.

Hi, I upgraded to V3 and is working very good. Thanks a lot for new features and customization panel.

I am testing the DFC here: http://en.gaestudio.com/

I have been wondering if there is any way to change the color of the first black shot?? I would like to make it white as I did with the carrousel background.

I ve been checking the jd.gallery.css but I cant find something related. Thanks again.

I forgot, I always use the DMC in HOME pages

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback. Smile

Looks like you managed to change the CSS – I could see a white background before the first image loaded.

Nice looking site, by the way.

Thank you.

Yes I did some changes, but there is still a fast black screen before the white with the pre-loader. Is there any way to turn it white?

I'm struggling to see it (maybe my internet connection is faster than yours). All I see is a white background, a white preloader bar, then the images load. This is all happening in a split-second.

By default, the background is controlled by this code in jd.gallery.css (in the CSS folder):

.jdGallery .slideElement
{
    width: 100%;
    height: 100%;
    background-color: #000;
    background-repeat: no-repeat;
    background-position: center center;
    background-image: url('img/loading-bar-black.gif');

Once the script runs, this is replaced by the images themselves.

Hi! Really like the new functionality… tried to mod the previous plugin to be able to display posts from more than 5 specified categories, but without success, so.. yay =) I use the plugin on the home page of http://statsvitenskap.no and http://holme.se . Really nice!

I guess this might not be the thread for feature requests or configurations.. but.. I wonder if there is a possibility to either specify a range of categories, or select out specific categories, and display the newest posts from this set?

The thing is, I have organized a "community blog" for 8 student groups, and the blog has two additional categories that should not be a part of the featured gallery. Not all of the student groups use the blog, though, so a few of the posts are really old… so it would be better if the 8 student group categories could be treated as one, and have the plugin show the newest posts from this set of categories. So, if there is a way to mod/configure the plugin to do this, I would deeply appreciate any hints…

Best regards, Peter

Hi Peter,

Glad you like it! Smile

Thanks for posting your question – I always like to hear how people use the plugin and get ideas for future features.

So, just to be sure I've followed your post correctly, you would want to pull the latest X posts from a specified list of 8 categories?

For the sake of "what if", say you wanted to show 8 posts in the gallery, do you mean you would expect to see the latest post from each of the 8 categories, or the 8 latest posts by chronology, regardless of which of those 8 categories the posts are pulled from? For example, if the first 2 posts in one category are newer than any other post in the other 7 categories, would the gallery show both these posts? (Er, does this make sense? lol)

Yeah, ehm, that last one, please ;)

If, chronologically, the five last posts are from category 3, then those five posts would also be shown in the dcg.

Understood. The second option is easier than the first. Let me think about it…
