Anyone know how to get to the upload directory to set up default images folder?

I always create the folder outside of the WP folder structure (makes it safe from upgrades, etc). So, use FTP or your hosting file manager to create a new folder "dcgimages" within your web root, then use FTP to upload the default images to this folder. (Remember, default images are named using the category ID number and must be jpgs, for example: 17.jpg for the default image for category 17.)
Then, in the DCG Settings > Gallery Method settings, enter the absolute URL to this folder, ie:
