OfflineI hate internet explorer.
I've used Firefox for the last 6 years & only use ie for testing. Built a site using the fab DCG on two pages. Everything works fantastic on Firefox. It even works in ie9 on my main Windows 7 machine.
But firing up my old laptop (XP & ie8) I start getting errors. The pages with the slideshow are actually OK & it works, if a little slow. But pages without the gallery throw a wobbly. "Error Get(…)style is null or not an object".
I'm using it with WP 3.1 & added the DCG as a wiget. Also using TC Custom Widgets plugin to limit the gallery to my home & news pages.
Would like some advice on what to try. I've already tried disabling the Custom Widgets thing but that didn't work. Weird it's only XP / ie8 and pages without the gallery that seems to have problems?
Any thoughts / advice would be most welcome. This is a fantastic plugin & even idiots with XP & ie8 deserve to see it in action

OfflineHi,
Are you sure it is the DCG which is throwing the error? The plugin's javascript isn't loaded on non-DCG pages (assuming you've set up the DCG Settings > Load Scripts tab correctly).

OfflineThanks Ade
I do believe I've got things set up OK, including the pages option in the java script settings. And everything does work as expected in Ffox & even ie 9 on my main machine. It's just the combination of XP & ie8 on my laptop that seems to have problems…
I've tried all sorts of things, like disabling plugins, & not using mootools, but same result.
I turned off debugging & the error now says – "object doesn't support this property or method
mootools-1.2.4-core-jm.js
Code:0
URL: …../plugins/dynamic-content-gallery-plugin/js-mo…"
To be honest, I've only been messing with wordpress for a couple of months & trying to build my first site with it.
I've just uploaded a brand new copy of wordpress to another directory, so I'll start again by just adding DCG & see if I get the same error. Hope it works OK as I really like your plugin & features.
Cheers

OfflineOK, done a bit more testing & I'm confusing myself.
To load DCG I can either insert the code into a template page eg. index.php.
OR
I can just use the widget instead & stick it in the primary widget area for example?
I've used the widget method on a fresh install of the 2010 theme – http://www.chris-creative.co.uk/architect
I put the widget in the primary widget area.
Bingo – the slidshow works fine. I chose single category & made 2 test image posts.
I also checked the "only show on home page" option which seems to work. However.. if another page eg. the wp sample page has a side bar, I get 2 copies of each image displayed there with no slideshow?
I'm now not getting any errors on the laptop, but feel I'm doing something wrong as the double images are appearing in the sample page sidebar. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your patience

OfflineHi,
Yes, just to confirm, use the template tag or the widget – not both.
I also checked the "only show on home page" option which seems to work. However.. if another page eg. the wp sample page has a side bar, I get 2 copies of each image displayed there with no slideshow?
Correct. The image problem is caused by the javascript only being loaded as per the DCG Settings, ie if these are set to Home page, javascript is only loaded on the home page. If the DCG widget is used on a different page, then as there is no js, you will just see a block of images. This is mentioned in the FAQ.
So, you need to use something like Widget Logic to make sure the DCG widget is only displayed when is_home() is true.
