Where to place the php code?

I would like to replace a slider on a client’s site with the DCG plugin. The site is using the Platform theme. I couldn't find out where to place the php code for the DCG plugin. Your recommendations didn't work neither for the index.php nor the page.php. The theme doesn't accept additional page templates. Could you please suggest another option?
