Hello Ade,
First off, thanks for writing such a great plugin, and dedicating so much of your spare time to maintenance and support. It's stellar.
Recently we've been getting concerns from various bloggers on our multisite network about lack of control over DCG's automatically-grabbed image from their posts. The way it works now, they have a single shot at uploading the correct image while composing their post, and if they discover something wrong with it and want to switch it up with a new one, there's nothing they can do to change it in their existing post (which, in my opinion, is a major shortcoming of the WordPress post attachments system). The only "solution" is to create an entirely new post with a freshly uploaded file.
I understand you're amending DCG in 3.4 to use the post's "Featured Image" (aka. "post thumbnail") instead of the first post attachment. I'm just inquiring as to the development status of this change? This concern has recently heightened in priority and I'm in charge of providing our users a fix.
I'd be happy to go ahead and patch the plugin myself today (which I'd of course share with you), but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel in case you've already taken care of it.
Thanks a lot,
Paul

OfflineHi Paul,
Thanks for your post! Glad you like the plugin.
Yes, the current Auto system of pulling the first image attachmnet is not ideal, hence the decision to go with Featured Images instead.
I'm fairly close to finishing the upgrade, but I need to do a fair bit of testing and I'm still a little way away from a release date. One of the "tricky" areas I'm looking at is whether to force the inclusion of add_image_size() in order to generate a correctly DCG-sized main image. I can see some pros and cons…
By all means, if you need a quick solution, go ahead and hack the code. Certainly, I would be interested to see your solution. Alternatively, if you can wait a couple of weeks, I will ahve finished my upgrade.
