OfflineHi,
I am using WordPress 3.2.1. (English) with Dynamic Content Gallery 3.3.5. The site is http://galerialatina.ec .
The Gallery Method is "ID Method" with a total of 18 posts displaying a gallery image.
For all the posts having a gallery image I have entered the order number, yet the gallery displays neither in the requested
order nor by post id.
Please advice.
Thanks,
vahing

OfflineHi,
Are you absolutely sure that you have aallocated a Sort Order for every post? Are you displaying normal posts, Pages, or posts from a custom post type?

OfflineThanks for your reply. I have wracked my brain and couldn't make the sort order work. Before posting my problem I have skimmed trough the FAQs, and the there is no configuration issue I am aware of. I have double checked that all posts have a gallery image as well as a unique sort number assigned (1-18).
There are no custom posts types. And there is one page which has no gallery image.
I would be very grateful if you could help me further.
Thanks Mark

OfflineMark,
Can you try something? Reduce the number of ID's to 3, then see what order they appear in. Could you then give me the 3 ID's of the posts and the sort order? (Reducing it down to 3 makes it a little more manageable to see what's going on. I don't think there's a bug because sort order works fine on my test install, but one never knows…)
PS: Sorry, I don't speak German – I live in the French speaking part of Switzerland. :-)

OfflineSome general info about the way the ID Method works…
1. Sort Order checkbox unchecked in DCG Settings > Gallery method
Regardless of the order in which ID numbers are listed in the ID box, the posts will be pulled into the DCG in ascending ID order, eg:
ID Method box = 3,1,2
DCG will show 1, 2, 3 (ie #1 will be the first post in the DCG, #3 will be the last)
2. Sort Order checkbox checked
Providing all posts have a sort order, then the sort order will determine the order in which the posts appear in the DCG. Again, this will be in ascending order, ie a post with a sort order entry of 2 will appear before a post with a sort order entry of 9.
If a post is missing a sort order entry in the DCG Metabox, this is treated as if the sort order is "0" and therefore will appear before all posts which have a sort order entry.
Not sure if this helps, but it may be useful to someone else in the future.

OfflineHi Ade,
I have started with only 3 gallery imgages and all went fine. So continued adding image for image. Until number 9 all goes well, but as soon as I ad one more image (number ten), then the sort order doesn't work any longer and seems to become random.
Page/Post ID numbers: 10,8,6,48,56,63,128,61,121 correspond to image order 1,2,3, …9.
When I add post id 59 (10,8,6,48,56,63,128,61,121,59) for making the sort order 1 – 10 then the issue appears.
What happens then is that post id 59 shows up as image number two, whereas is should be 10. Of course, I have checked
all entries for post id 59 including the sort order entry.
(I have currently switched back to showing only 9 images in the working sort order).
Thanks a lot for looking into this.
Best regards,
Mark

OfflineThanks, Mark, that's very useful.
I think you may have found a bug in my code. Do you mind testing something for me?
Open up dfcg-admin-metaboxes.php (it's in the plugin's includes folder) and find these lines (lines 272 and 273):
$newdata['_dfcg-sort'] = esc_attr($newdata['_dfcg-sort']);
and change the second line to this:
You will then need to go back into each of your ten posts and click Update to re-save the sort order numbers.
Let me know if that now works with ten sort numbers. I think the issue is that the sort order is being saved as a string and it should be saved as an integer.

OfflineNo, that won't work either. Ignore my above post.
Here's a simpler fix: instead of using sort entry numbering 1,2,3,4….10,11,12 etc, do it like this instead: 01,02,03….10,11,12
That should work.
