Manually Using the Site Upgrade Tool

hi,

I recently had a big upgrade of WP as well the dynamic gallery.. I dont think I ran the site upgrade tool for the dymanic gallery when prompted as the WP upgrade had so many error banners after the upgrade it likely got overlooked. Is there a way to manually run it / access it? I'm having sporatic problems on WPMU 3+, where we utilize 1 theme, but half of the user accounts the gallery settings area says to run the site upgrade and has no access to the settings.. Oddly what i have found is, if i create a new account, it works just fine, as well the other half accounts with a little effort, the gallery works again..makes no sense except the site upgrade possibility. Also, i've tried deleting the plugin manually per the directions.. readding and same thing continues..

So again, im looking to know how to run the site upgrade tool manually.
Thank you,
Drue

Drue,

If you have phpMyAdmin access to your db, you can force the upgrade by deleting this entry in the wp-options table:
dfcg_plugin_postmeta_upgrade

Backup your db before you begin!

I discovered the SOLUTION.. what a pain and unofrtunately is the manual solution..
2 primary things have to happen

1. In your DB, and pertaining MU, you have to search for dfcg-image in each user's postmeta table such as wp_27_postmeta. then rename each one to _dfcg-image. (luckily in the begining there could only be 5)
2. So the same for dfcg-desc and dfcg-link renaming them as _dfcg-desc and _dfcg-link
3. The go back to the users ID.. and find there options table (wp_27_options) for example. Scroll through options lists and confirm first that you dont see a row named "dfcg_plugin_postmeta_upgrade"
3A. Go to Insert and give it an unused option Id, (say 154 or 138), blog_id should be 0, option_name should be dfcg_plugin_postmeta_upgrade, and option_value should be a:1:{s:8:"upgraded";s:9:"completed";}
Click Go and you should be back in business.

Oh yea, be sure to backup your DB first..

Drue,

Let's not confuse "users" with "blogs" – they mean two different things to me.

There is an options table created for each blog and the dfcg settings are stored in there, one set of settings for each blog. If you delete the dfcg_plugin_postmeta_upgrade record then go to the DCG Settings page, the upgrade should run. Are you saying that it "runs" but nothing happens, or that you can't get into the DCG Settings page? Are you logged in as Network Admin or as the Blog Admin (ie the Admin for each blog)

Hi Ade, thanks for getting back with me, I have been pulling my hair out this for a month.. in my last post I noted that the link to the upgrade had 2 instances of wp-admin/wp-admin
which could easily be my install of things as i had to do a dirty migration of accounts to another domain, but just in reading what you said in its simplest form being the site upgrade consists of renaming the current dfcg-* and run then assumed the site upgrade placed a row in to acknowledge that it has been updated being insert a row for the dfcg_plugin_postmeta_upgrade that notes its been upgraded.. Unfortunately my way is real manual, but lukily i only have a few sites or i would have to write a sql for it which can be a hit or miss to..

Hi,

Yes, if you delete the dfcg_plugin_postmeta_upgrade option from each blog's wp_options table, and then go the DCG Settinsg page, you should be prompted to run the upgrade.
