I am currently using WP 3.0.1 and URL: http://www.allergyfriendlydogs.com

Is it possible to have sliding images only and not connected to either pages/posts. I have read and searched all the information but still at a loss if this is possible. Would appreciate your help and guidance.

No. The plugin is specifically designed to link images to posts/pages. If you're looking for a slideshow, check out image gallery plugins like NextGen Gallery.
