The first image is showing up in a black box error. I just updated Genesis – and hoping there's not a conflict with the update?

I'm sure I've done something silly – but the error message does not show and I don't see it in Firebug.

You haven't mentioned which image management option you are using. Are you using Auto, Full or Partial?
A couple of things: your images are huge, and I mean huge. You should size them to the dimensions of the DCG. I suspect that the browser is timing out before the first image can be loaded. Secondly, just to be sure, have you added any new plugins or upgraded any plugins?
The DCG works fine with Genesis 1.5.
