Hello,

I have been using the Dynamic Content Gallery for a couple of years now with no problem. But, I just updated to the latest version, version 3.3.5, and now I have a black bar above my images. I had made no other changes to the DCG setup when this started happening. In addition, the black bar is pushing the image down so that the bottom is being cut off.

I believe the problem has something to do with the top bar that shows the text 'Featured Article' by default. In an attempt to correct the problem, I reset all the settings to the defaults and re-did my own settings. When I did this, I noticed that the 'Featured Articles' text appeared within the problematic black bar. But, I've removed that text and unchecked 'Show Carousel' from the JavaScript Options. The text no longer appears, but the black bar remains.

My Gallery CSS is set up to show the image at 400 px x 400 px and the size of all borders and fonts on that page are set to 0 px.

Other pertinent info:

Image Management: full URL
Carousel Thumbnails: legacy
Gallery Method: id-method | Default image is: not defined
Descriptions: none
Javascript Options: mootools
Load Scripts: Home Page
Tools – Error Message options: on

Website: http://scrappydigits.com/

Can anyone help me, please? I would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

If you don't want the Featured Articles tab to appear at all, add this to your theme's style.css:

.jdGallery a.carouselBtn {display:none;}

Hi Ade,

Thanks for your suggestion!

I added your line of code to my style.css file. Unfortunately, the black bar is still there. Any other thoughts?

Thanks again!

I have been playing with the settings and have found something that might help. If I change from MooTools to jQuery in the JavaScript options, the black bar disappears, but the entire image moves down and you can no longer click on the image to go to the post associated with the photo.

I don't know if this helps, just thought that I would mention it.

Thanks again!

Hi!

I think I've found the problem, but I don't know how to fix it.

I was able to get rid of the black bar by adding the following code to my style.css:

#myGallery {
background: transparent !important;
}

So, the black bar is gone, but the space is still there, causing a gap at the top of the image and cutting it off at the bottom.

When I view the code for the page, I can see that there's an extra
causing the spacing problem. The coding looks like:

The first closing p tag looks like what is causing my problem. Any idea how I can fix that?

Thanks again!

I can't see any gap or misaligned images. (FF/Mac)

Which browser are you using?

Also, the first fix I posted works.

Hi Ade,

Thanks again for your response.

The gap is at the top of the center photo. The top of that photo should line up with the blue box directly to the right of it. And, you may not be able to tell this, but the bottom of the image is being cut off. And, I don't think that this is being caused by my coding because things lined up before I did the update.

I viewed it in Firefox, IE and Safari. The problem is seen in all of these browsers.

And, I don't mean to be argumentative, but the original fix did not work. I tried it and the black bar was still there. In fact, that coding is still in my css. It wasn't until I changed the background color of the #MyGallery div that the bar disappeared. But, now the space where the black bar was is throwing the alignment off. And, if you look at the source code, you can see that that space looks like it is being caused by an errant p tag. I just don't know how to fix that.

Thanks again for your help.

After tooling around a bit, I've been able to fix my problem. Here's how I did it.

Since the issue seemed to be an extra ending p tag, I went into the PHP file that creates that part of the code:

dynamic-content-gallery-plugin/includes/dfcg-gallery-constructors.php

I found the line where the coding is created. It's at line 726.

The coding there says:

$output = "\n" . '<div><!– Start of Dynamic Content Gallery output –>';

I changed it to add in a beginning p tag:

$output = "\n" . '<div><!– Start of Dynamic Content Gallery output –><p>';

And, now my alignment is back!

Thanks for all of your help.

Mary,

This isn't a real fix as the p tags shouldn't be there in the first place. I would disable all other plugins and see if the p tags disappear. Unfortunately, all your fix does is hide the real issue.
