Just generally, for a list of posts, say a serialized book, it would be useful to quickly go back one, or to quickly go forward without reference to the list.

Do you mean if the list exceeds a certain number of posts? At the moment, no, the plugin doesn't do that. I would have to have a think to see if this is possible.
